What is Leadership?
Leadership, by definition, is a process to direct, guide, and influence the behavior and work of others towards reaching specific goals in a given situation by an executive. Leadership is the ability of a leader to persuade the team to work with zeal and confidence.
Leadership is also considered as the ability to influence a group towards the realization of a goal. Leaders are required to develop future possibilities, inspire and motivate team members to achieve certain goals for an organization
According to John C. Maxwell, "Leadership is not about titles, positions, or flowcharts. It is about one life influencing another.”
Be the change you want to see
We often want to make change in society. We have tons of ideas to better ourselves and the people around us. A lot of times we look to others to execute those ideas. Is it because we don't think we can achieve our goals? Is it due to lack of confidence? Do we communicate effectively. In order for us to truly make change, we need to step into the leadership role and...
-define our end goal (What do we want to achieve?)
-research our goal ( what knowledge do I need to achieve my goal?)
-Build a team ( No one knows it all. Part of being a good leader and making change comes from allowing other perspectives and expertise to shape your vision.)
-Believe in yourself ( you can't effectively lead if you don't believe that you can)
Many people wonder if leadership can be taught.
People who offer leadership training or literature of some sort are convinced that it can. However, many successful leaders don't have any formal training.
For example, Nelson Mandela, in South Africa, passed his 17 years captivity in jail for his indomitable leadership, but he never gave up hope. Finally, he got freedom, and he is an example of a true leader. Sometimes it comes down to , "if you got it, you got it," and "if you don't, you don't."
